About Me
I’m Opeta Elika, a multidisciplinary design leader based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa.
For over a decade, I’ve worked across brand, campaign, digital, and cultural storytelling, creating visual systems and experiences that connect deeply with people and shape how brands are felt, not just seen.
My practice sits between strategy, narrative, and craft. I’m interested in building thoughtful, emotionally resonant work that balances clarity with character, and creative ambition with real-world impact. Whether developing brand worlds, leading campaigns, or shaping visual systems, I’m drawn to work that feels purposeful, distinctive, and culturally grounded.
I’ve led projects spanning civic institutions, national campaigns, and cultural organisations, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to create work that is both strategically considered and creatively ambitious. Some of this work has been recognised through national design awards and exhibited at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.
I’m naturally curious and constantly looking for inspiration across architecture, fashion, film, music, food, and everyday life. Design, for me, is less about decoration and more about creating feeling, meaning, and connection through considered experiences.
